If I had read this earlier I would have certainly voted for this to win Goodreads Best Fiction award. It was brilliant.

Eleanor is socially awkward, but is she? Or, is she normal and everyone else adheres to abnormal social cues with a lack of directness and rationality?

At the age of 29,  Eleanor has yet to feel loved; with no family or friend interactions she struggles to understand and trust others. She has experienced a trauma as a young child which she silences through vodka and routine. A new colleague of hers, Raymond, will provide the model friendship she needs to find herself. The book tells a beautiful tale of a loving and caring person who just needed someone to believe in her.

I can’t say enough of how beautifully written this story was. You become very connected to the characters and will laugh and cry with them. They seemed so real (I am aware of how this sounds but hopefully you understand what I mean. I can’t put it into words but if you read the book I think you will get what I was aiming to say).

I highly recommend reading this book. It moved quickly and the chapters were relatively short and flowed really well into each other.

If you read this book, I would love to hear what you thought too!
