I love music just as much as I love reading (maybe even more 😬) and for me the two often go hand in hand. I often will be reading a storyline and think of a corresponding song. So I thought it would be fun to play out a musical scenario and ask you which books the “conversation” reminds you of. Hence, finding me my next TBR additions!
You also get to pick the ending! Fun, right?!
Here’s how the story goes (as sung by the likes of Mariah Carey, Ariana Grande and TSwift):
Character 1: Obviously scorned, but takes the higher road. They are totally over it. (But maybe still slightly bitter, this being their go-to anthem song and all)
Character 2: Sees Character 1 and is reminded of better times and actually hasn’t moved on. They want Character 1 back, but had some growing up to do before they realized it. (of course they are too late)
Character 1’s response: Leave me alone, your words are lip-service. I am not buying that you changed. Same old song and dance and I would rather sit this one out, but thanks.
Character 2’s response: Will not give up on proving they mean what they say. But, if its really over, how about one more night for old times sake?
Now here is where you come in. How will this play out? What is Character 1’s final response to Character 2’s efforts?
Ending 1: You aren’t listening to me? I am over you, you are bad for me. Please leave me be: Release Me!
Ending 2: Who am I kidding, I haven’t stopped loving you for one second. “If you love someone, set them free. If they come back they’re yours; if they don’t they never were.” – Richard Bach
What will it be?! Answer by dropping your book recommendations in the comment section. Recommend a book that plays out like Ending 1 or Ending 2. Just don’t tell me which it is – as we try our best to be a spoiler free zone – I will need to read it and find out 😉
Also, are there any songs that remind you of other books? Share those too! I would love to hear if you do the same thing as me!
Love the idea!
Here’s my choice: Before and Again by Barbara Delisnky. I do have a spoiler free review of the book, at

Or just grab a copy and enjoy it!

I love this idea and my mind is blank for suggesting a book but I will give it a think. 🙂

Being that it’s Monday and I’m too brain dead to come up with a recommendation myself, I’ll just say that this post is wonderfully unique and I love how interactive it is!

Wow. I like WAY different music. I like Jane’s Addiction the best right now, I can tell you that they are like punk/grunge/alternative from the 90’s and early 2000’s. I’m kind of at a loss of what book to recommend.

I loved “Been Caught Stealing” when I was in high school. My musical preference is very broad, for this rom-com I thought pop fit the bill but my go-to angsty playlist includes Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Nirvana, etc.

Oh ok. That’s good. I also like metal. I listen to that on my bad days.

I LOVE this idea! And while I’ve paused on this post way longer than I usually do when working my way through my WordPress feed, I haven’t been able to come up with a book that matches either ending. I guess most of the romance books I read feature character 2 pining after character 1 who either does or does not eventually get together with them, instead of featuring two characters who originally started out together.

Thank you for stopping by! If you have a good book where character 2 pines instead of starting together, well I’ll take that too 😉 Just don’t tell me which ending!

You might have already read it but I’d say a good example is Wuthering Heights…or Far From the Madding Crowd!

LOL I wouldn’t even know what to recommend. I tend to lean towards rock music which is probably why I like thriller and horror a lot because the two always seem to go hand in hand.

I have no idea! that requires too much brain thought on a Monday! LOL
However a book I just finished that might fit one of those is Wild on my Mind by Laurel Kerr

Hmm… okay, I think I have one that comes relatively close to this:
Unbreak my Heart by Lauren Blakely.
I have a spoiler-free review of it on my blog. I only have the one though. I can’t think of one that really has a different ending 😛
