Halloween Book Tag: Costumes Included!

This is the Halloween Creatures Book Tag 2.0 as first hosted by Anthony@Keep Reading Forward. Trendy Simple Life and Jen Chaos Reviews both tagged me! Although I am not a huge fan of Halloween (to me its always cold and rainy and I would rather wear sweats), I love getting trick-or-treaters and have all the candy ready for their arrival!

If you make it through my whole post, as a reward I will share a few of my Halloween costumes.

Rules:

  • Answer all prompts
  • Answer honestly

Witch: A Magical Character or Book
Diana Bishop from The Discovery of Witches Trilogy. I typically do not gravitate toward paranormal/fantasy books especially with vampires (not a fan of blood), but I enjoyed this series. They took me forever to read as they are beasts of a book, but I felt accomplished when I finished. AND now, it was adapted to a TV series!!

Werewolf: The Perfect Book to Read at Night
I am going to get creative with my answer, because I don’t think I’ve ever read a book with a werewolf. I immediately thought of Lone Wolf by Jodi Picoult. No werewolf, but discussed wolf packs.

Frankenstein: A Book That Truly Shocked You
My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult ending twist. I remember falling out of my chair. (Another Jodi answer, sorry not sorry, she is obviously one of my favorite authors)

The DevilA Dark, Evil Character
Dr. Frederick Flinn, Arthur Roeder, and Joseph Kelly (and many more) from The Radium Girls by Kate Moore. How the heck did they sleep at night, those evil monsters.

Grim Reaper: A Character that Should Have Never Died
Not that I am about spoilers, so hopefully no one gets mad that I answer this directly. Simon and Piggy in Lord of the Flies by William Golding. So. Mad.

Zombie: A Book that Made You “Hungry” for More
When I finished China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan, I couldn’t wait to get to to reading the last of the Crazy Rich Asians trilogy: Rich People Problems. I just need to find the time! Too many deadlines, I need more recreational reading time (that will probably be one of my 2019 New Years resolutions).

Gargoyle: A Character That You Would Protect at All Cost
Emilia Brown from My Mrs. Brown by William Norwich. If you have yet to read this gem, you need to add it to your TBR stat. You’re welcome.

VampireA Book That Sucked The Life Out of You
A Simple Favor by Darcey Bell, I can’t get the time I wasted on this horrible book back. If it wasn’t for book club, I would have DNF’d from the start.

Ghost: A Book That Still Haunts You
A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. It’s like watching Titanic over and over and thinking you will get a different ending.

Demon: A Book That Really Scared You
Sinner by Christopher Graves. My review says it all.

Skeleton: A Character That You Have a Bone to Pick With
All the parents in Do Not Become Alarmed by Maile Meloy. Just awful.

MummyA Book You Would Preserve Throughout Time
The Heart’s Invisible Furies by John Boyne. How could you not love Cyril Avery (even when you are mad at him)?

Creepy DollA Cover too Scary to Look At
“I don’t really read scary books and if the cover is too scary, there’s 100% chance I won’t read it…” (same answer as Trendy Simple Life)

The Monster Mash: It’s Fun to Be with Friends on Halloween! Tag Your Friends!
Since its already Halloween – anyone interested in doing this tag, please do! Don’t forget to tag me so I can see your answers!!!

Now that you have been patient and read all my amazing answers, here are a few costumes for you:

  1. I’m not familiar with most of the books you talked about so I’m definitely going to check them out to see if there are some new to me books I want to add to my wishlist. Love the pictures of the costumes! Wish halloween was celebrated more over here in the Netherlands but unfortunately it’s not 😦
