2018 was the year I discovered my love of nonfiction. I thought it wasn’t for me, but after reading Educated by Tara Westover, Bad Blood by John Carreyrou, and Becoming by Michelle Obama, I realized how wrong I was.
Over a few weeks I laughed with Michelle, cried with her, and enjoyed simply listening to her. She is graceful, relatable…human. It wasn’t a political narrative, but the story of a young girl becoming a woman and learning more about herself as she grew.
There were so many takeaways for me, but the one that hit closest to home – on page 187 or 10:46:24 in the audio – made me feel as if she were talking for me: saying everything I felt but had a hard time communicating or even getting other people to understand. Go read it and you’ll understand 🌈
She is such a rad person. I wish there were more leaders like her: rational, practical, confident, passionate, eloquent, resilient…I could go on!
If you haven’t grabbed a copy what are you waiting for?! Although I listened to the audio, I had to get the hardcover too!

I’m listening to her book now and I’m almost finished I don’t want it to end! I love her she’s such a humble human being and I’m so happy she didn’t include heavy politics in her book.

Oh man your review is influencing me ever more to get the book! I heard her writing is poetic here too! I think nonfiction books through audio is life! I prefer it so much more!

I am going to get this. Even as a Brit she is someone that always impressed me when Obama was in office. (I wish we could have them over here now that he is no longer POTUS)
