A Separate Peace by John Knowles
First published in 1959
Required reading during my HS years (and I don’t remember if I ever finished it, but knowing my younger self…I probably read the CliffsNotes)

This past year I set out to read books from HS (1994-98) to: 1) read from an adult perspective and 2) actually read the ones I was supposed to and know I didn’t!

I want to apologize to my English teacher now, I should have appreciated you more. 😉Read More »

Ok, I was going to time my book review with the release date, but honestly I couldn’t wait much longer. I need to share this book with you all, like NOW!

In order to not give away any spoilers or create preconceived notions my review is somewhat vague, but trust me on this: love/hate it…you can read it in one sitting, heck I had to because I couldn’t wait to figure out what the hell was going to happen.Read More »

I had my monthly book club get together last night and I am happy to report that team “Book Nerds” took 2nd place during trivia night. Obviously we discussed the book before trivia night started – what book club doesn’t focus on just the book? Hehe. Admit it, we have all been guilty of going off course, but I guess that depends on how engrossed in the story we were.

There I go rambling again, ok back to the main event…

Unanimously we all felt the same about this book in general.

Book Club Consensus: Quick read and we were all committed to finding out how the story played out. Here comes the BUT: most of the characters were unlikeable.Read More »

This book is super cute and I loved the author’s love of classic rom-com’s and pop culture; it came through multiple times amongst the characters dialogue. She created likeable characters that flowed well within the story. I felt like they would be really fun friends: I want to be their roommate too!Read More »

What an utterly delightful read with a main character, Paul, whom you can’t help but fall in love with.

He understood from an early age that we all carry good and evil within us, like two suitcases which we fill as we please….humanity is built upon a strange contradiction that manipulates us from the shadows. He preferred to nurture the light rather than seek refuge in the darkness.”Read More »

My 1st Blog Post!

reading list

My TBR pile is getting larger and larger and it’s slightly overwhelming. Where am I going to find the time to read all these books AND keep up with new releases?! There goes my weekends. Good thing we are headed into winter, I don’t mind staying in with a good book and glass of wine while snuggling with my pug, Bailey and wearing my favorite fuzzy socks. Only thing missing is an actual fireplace – I must work on that.Read More »
