Fun Fact Friday: Social Sciences

Round V (and probably final round, as I am running out of things to share…yes, I am that boring) of Fun Fact Friday.

I graduated from Providence College with a Bachelors in Social Sciences. Go Friars!

I took primarily Sociology classes and really was a soc major minus the capstone class. If I only knew then what I know now I would have taken the darn class. It wouldn’t have affected my career either way, but still. I should have just done it.

I love the study of sociology and researching/engaging in discussion on things related to culture, social interactions, and group dynamics. Cue in a book review…Read More »

Talk to Me Tuesday: 2018 Reading Goals

Goodreads Challenge

It’s a new year with a new goal. I am aiming high and working towards reading 100 books this year (that is 34 more than I read in 2017)! If I can read at a pace of 2 books a week, then I got this. Wish me luck!

What are your 2018 goals? Whether it be book count, adding a new genre, trying a new author – what have you – talk to me: would love to hear from you.

If you read over 100 books in 2017, what are your tips? How did you keep motivated? Keep up pace? etc. Share your secrets with us. 😉

A Year in Review: 2017

This year I upped my reading game (I read 66 books – my highest count ever!), joined a monthly book club, signed up for NetGalley, and started my own book blog. It’s been super fun and I can’t wait to see what 2018 brings.

Thank you for following my blog and for your likes and comments – you have all made this venture into blogging one that I truly enjoy. You are all the bee’s knees. Hope you have a magical 2018!

Happy New Year!

Talk to Me Tuesday: Buying Books

I am always looking for new places to purchase books. My go-to is Amazon (for its convenience) and I recently signed up for a Barnes & Noble Membership (thanks in part to birthday and Christmas gift cards!).

If I can check out a local bookstore I will, but often times they are much more expensive. I love going to my local used bookstore, its like hunting for buried treasure but I know I may not always find what I am looking for.

Regarding book subscriptions: I joined Book of the Month, and love it. I tried PageHabit once and was disappointed that $30 only got me a paperback – not cool.

What book subscriptions do you do? Where do you go to buy books? What am I missing that I should check out?

side note: This is my 1st blog post written from my phone – look at me! 😉

Fun Fact Friday: Top 5’s

Round III of Fun Fact Friday is here! This week I am sharing my Top 5 answers to the 5 categories listed below. It’s a lightening round of fun facts, kinda like speed dating.

The Top 5 categories I chose:
1) Favorite Books
2) Books Disliked
3) Albums of All Time
4) Movies
5) Holiday Movies (since Christmas is only 3 days away!)

Another – not-so-hidden – fun fact in there: you can tell by my category choices that I am a lover of books, music and movies.

Share your 1st Book of the Year!

first2bbook2bbanner

I happened to stumble upon Brona’s Books blog – Hi Brona! – where I learned of a really cool book share tradition hosted by Shelia at Book Journey.

Share what you plan your 1st book of 2018 will be with Shelia, and on January 1st she will be posting our submissions for all to see. You can look forward to adding to your ever growing TBR list when you view your fellow book lovers’ submissions.

More details on how to share your book choice with Shelia can be found here.

I look forward to seeing what you all have submitted! You will have to wait and see what I selected too: you can try and guess, but I still won’t tell  😉
