I have always enjoyed reading and usually read around 1 book a month; most of the time it was because I was not up to date with new releases or bestsellers and did not know what to read next. I was on goodreads but didn’t fully utilize the site, I felt it was a tad overwhelming. All this changed when I joined a book club in March of 2017.
A former colleague of mine reached out to me to join her local book club and I didn’t have to think twice. What a fun way to get some reading in while meeting new people with similar interests and varying opinions; many enjoyable conversations have been had.
After reading the first required book, Inside the O’Briens, by Lisa Genova, I found myself 2 – 3 books ahead of book club pace and craving the next book to add to my growing ‘Read’ list. Since that March, I have read 43 books. 43!!!! That is an achievement for me and I am envious of those that can whip through 100+ in a year – that is a skill for sure.
I am already planning my 2018’s Goodreads Challenge and aiming to join the 100 books read club; I figure if I hold a pace of 2 books a week I can do it. My book club already planned out our next 6 books, so I only have to find another 44 books for the first 6 months. How hard can that be? HA! I will need your help of course: write your recommendations in the comments section!
