My first Backman book was A Man Called Ove, then I went on to read Beartown and Us Against You; I instantly became an auto-buy Backman fan so when Atria Books provided me with an advanced reader ebook I felt like I WON the lottery!!
Anxious People did not disappoint, the writing was MAGNIFICENT. so clever and sharp. I loved every single character. It wasn’t a thriller per se, but it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.
True to its title, my anxiety level while reading was super high.

I stayed up way past my bedtime one night so I could finish. When I was trying to find the words to describe my reading journey, I was having some difficulty in finding the right words to portray just how quietly beautiful the written words were. “That was why they called it temptation—it never presented itself as something ugly, or tepid, or harmless; no, it came in the guise of glorious feelings and a sense of utter rightness, even when it was wrong. That was why one needed principles.”

Quick, cute read. I wonder if we are going to get a sequel…don’t fret, it doesn’t end with a cliffhanger (sorry for that light spoiler, you know how I feel about spoilers BUT I HATE cliffhangers even more). Pardon that interruption, we will now continue our scheduled programming:
Both lead characters remind me of a combination of Goonies characters. I’ll explain a bit later…Read More »
