I was recently selected to be a BookSparks 2019 Spring Campaign #SwipeRightonReading Ambassador! Over the next few weeks I will receive three ‘blind date with a book’ books. First up was debut novel Appearances by Sondra Helene.
When I first read the synopsis, I immediately thought of the song from White Christmas: Sisters. Apparently I am not the only one; KIRKUS Reviews had the same thought and offered the following quote for the book’s back cover: “Sisters,’ the old Irving Berlin song, wrinkly covers primal themes of romance and family; this novel takes them with detail and realism…[and] makes quietly clear how precious any extra time with a loved one can be.“Read More »

Strongest prologue I’ve ever read and brilliantly done ending. (If that’s all you read of this review, I’m good with it. Run, don’t walk to get a copy of this book!) I was left holding my breathe after turning that last page; when I finally caught my breathe I noticed the goosebumps on my arm.
This book was intricately plotted and smartly written. I wanted to make sure I was using ‘intricately’ correctly and googled it – how many of you do that?! – and saw the previous sentence as an example. It perfectly stated how I felt about this book so thanks Cambridge English Dictionary!Read More »
Did a book’s ending ever make it hard to fairly rate the book? I am not saying that the ending was terrible, its just that…well, I just didn’t like it. Which stinks because up until the 95% mark of this book I thought it was rather fun. I was whipping through the ending because I wanted to finish and then BAM, that “twist.”
It was a fun story; classic chick-lit, light read that is easy to whip through. I liked some characters, I hated some characters (which you were supposed to). But obviously meh about the ending.

I had the pleasure of answering a few questions – with a few other bookstagrammers – about Instagram burnout for fellow book blogger Marcia over at Trendy Simple Life. Check out Marcia’s experience with Instagram burnout and how she recommends taking your power back! feature image credit: Trendy Simple Life
I am lucky to call Marcia a friend. I’ve known her since 2008 and have spent the last 2 years attending Marcia’s monthly book club. She takes the most beautiful book photos and is my young adult genre guru. She writes very thoughtful reviews on all genres so I recommend you check her out!Read More »

I could definitely see this story translate well as a Netflix film. You hear that Netflix? Please and thank you.
Chloe’s senior year is the pits: on top of her parents divorcing, she is starting at a new school. Ripped away from her old life and friends she must start over while taking care of her mother and resenting her father. Oh and the real kicker…someone suspects that she was in fact kidnapped as a child and her real parents live nearby. As if high school isn’t hard enough?!Read More »

If you didn’t already know: I am a sucker for a good cowboy romance. I have only read Maisey Yates’ Copper Ridge series, but when Berkley Romance gifted me with The Good Ones I couldn’t resist. After a few heavier reads I needed something sugary sweet. Ain’t no shame in my reading game. Read More »
