HO-HO-HO…more like NO-NO-NO.
I had been seeing so many Christmas story bookstagram posts that I felt a sudden urge to listen to a holiday audiobook. I came across Nora Roberts’ novella, Home for Christmas, on Amazon for $3.49: so I thought I would give it a go. Another plus: it was less than 3 hours!
If it wasn’t less than 3 hours, it would have been a DNF.
Jason and Faith were HS love birds. Jason leaves town for a job and asks Faith to wait for him. Flash forward 10 years: Jason never came back for Faith, Faith married someone else and has a kid. Jason is now back in town to win Faith back. Blah, blah, blah.
Beware of reading any further, a small spoiler is below:
First off, Jason’s excuse for not calling Faith – during the 3 months it took Jason being gone for her to marry someone else – that he needed to settle in…I am not buying what Nora Roberts is selling. I could go on, but I wouldn’t want to bore you.
It’s been a rough start for audiobooks and myself. I am stilling willing to try if not for the sake of convenience, but it also allows me to read two books at a time. Share with me any recommendations of audiobooks you could tolerate, please!
I listen to audiobooks quite frequently. I can usually tell pretty early on if I will like the narrator. If I know that I won’t, I usually bail and tell myself I will read the print version. I particularly like ensemble casts. For example, The Help on audio was amazing! A bad narrator totally ruins the book, IMO.

I am listening to Amy Poehler’s audiobook of Yes, Please. I heard that was a good one too!

Oh dear this audiobook sounds like it wasn’t your cup of tea. Nora Roberts can be hit and miss sometimes. I haven’t tried audiobooks yet. I just have a feeling that I would fall asleep listening to them 😀.

It is very hard to pay attention for me! I think I actually read faster than I can listen.
