WOW! There were several times throughout this book that I was not expecting what was coming.

Let me just say that author Liz Moore is Brilliant and narrator Allyson Ryan is Phenomenal.

My heart raced, I held my breathe, I sat in my car longer than usual most mornings so I could sneak in a few more minutes. I even snuck in some listening time at work (if you are my colleague…I am just kidding) 😉

Last year I read Dopesick, a nonfiction read about the opioid epidemic in the US (which I highly, highly recommend), and when I started Long Bright River it brought me back to some of the stories of the families who lost loved ones to overdoses. The fictional characters in the town of Kensington seemed very real in that instance.

Long Bright River tells the story of two sisters – one who will lose control of her life to drugs and one who will lose control of her life to drugs secondhand. Kacey has gone missing, and with a string of murders happening to girls like Kacey her sister Mickey (a local police officer) is scared and on the hunt for her. Mickey takes matters into her own hands and goes down a path opening doors that lead to other paths she didn’t imagine.

It’s a wild ride and I could not stop listening. I NEEDED to get to the end!
