Talk to Me Tuesday: 2018 Reading Goals

Goodreads Challenge

It’s a new year with a new goal. I am aiming high and working towards reading 100 books this year (that is 34 more than I read in 2017)! If I can read at a pace of 2 books a week, then I got this. Wish me luck!

What are your 2018 goals? Whether it be book count, adding a new genre, trying a new author – what have you – talk to me: would love to hear from you.

If you read over 100 books in 2017, what are your tips? How did you keep motivated? Keep up pace? etc. Share your secrets with us. 😉

A Year in Review: 2017

This year I upped my reading game (I read 66 books – my highest count ever!), joined a monthly book club, signed up for NetGalley, and started my own book blog. It’s been super fun and I can’t wait to see what 2018 brings.

Thank you for following my blog and for your likes and comments – you have all made this venture into blogging one that I truly enjoy. You are all the bee’s knees. Hope you have a magical 2018!

Happy New Year!

Perfect Little World
by Kevin Wilson
Published: January 24, 2017 by Ecco
Purchase: Amazon or Barnes & Noble

Goodreads Synopsis:

When Isabelle Poole meets Dr. Preston Grind, she’s fresh out of high school, pregnant with her art teacher’s baby, and totally on her own. Izzy knows she can be a good mother but without any money or relatives to help, she’s left searching.

Dr. Grind, an awkwardly charming child psychologist, has spent his life studying family, even after tragedy struck his own.  Now, with the help of an eccentric billionaire, he has the chance to create a “perfect little world”—to study what would happen when ten children are raised collectively, without knowing who their biological parents are.  He calls it The Infinite Family Project and he wants Izzy and her son to join.

This attempt at a utopian ideal starts off promising, but soon the gentle equilibrium among the families disintegrates: unspoken resentments between the couples begin to fester; the project’s funding becomes tenuous; and Izzy’s growing feelings for Dr. Grind make her question her participation in this strange experiment in the first place.

Written with the same compassion and charm that won over legions of readers with The Family Fang, Kevin Wilson shows us with grace and humor that the best families are the ones we make for ourselves.

Talk to Me Tuesdays

1st Tuesday topic I want your input on:  Audiobooks

  1. Do you count them as a ‘read’ book? And, do you also count them as a read book in your goodreads reading challenge?
  2. Could you read a book faster than listening to it?
  3. Do you find yourself constantly rewinding as your thoughts may wander off while you are supposed to be listening?
  4. Are you less invested in a book when you listen to it rather than read it?
  5. Do you find your book reviews for audiobooks have a lower rating average versus books you have read?
  6. Do you think audible is worth $14.95/month?

Tell me all your thoughts on audiobooks!
